Stock Battery Dead

Stock Battery Dead

Postby indiglosolara » Fri Sep 05, 2003 8:34 am

So its Friday Morning around 7:30 getting ready to get into my car to get to work driving thru traffic. I turn my Key and Nothing!!!!!! I pop the hood and noticed that the green thing on my battery showing that its still good is gone. Im assuming that i have a dead cell. so i try to use our back up batt jumper(those stand alone ones) but it wasn't charged so i didn't have enough juice to start my car. Didn't have jumper at home so no luck their.

Now i have to get a new batt. Since i need to buy one anyways im leaning towrads the optima blue red or yellow top. what should i get???

Im running a system in the car so i want a batt that wont die on me after a yr or even 2 yrs.

What do you all recommend... im going to be getting a batt tonight when i get off work.

my bro took my car to sf and came back with a dead battery. good thing i had stick, so you could still push start it, or else the towing woulda been mad expensive. i put in a yellowtop and i love it.

either a yellow or blue top..the red top isn't any good....just good for starting the car....the blue top might be a bit better...cuz it has more cold cranking power..plus it has extra posts to add extra stuff on...anyways...can someone post a DIY section on how to modify the battery terminals so you can put an optima battery in..?

modifying the terminals is easy. just follow the wires to the core and replace them w/ newer, longer ones from autozone. just take out the battery and follow the wires

yea im having second thoughts about the optima blue red or yellow cuz i dont want to modify the terminals. i may be getting a interstate or another trusted brand instead. i thought maybe they had a optima top battery that i can use with my oem terminals. but can't seem to find one.

You can always add a second battery for your system... =\ that's obviously what drained your batt so fast =x but since you don't want to rewire... you may be forced to get a new batt. almost yearly. =x
