Chair clicking noise

When I drive by myself, with no one sitting in the passenger seat, the passenger seat will sometimes make a clicking noise, especially if the road is bumpy or I'm going fast. I can usually play around with the seat and it will stop, but it gets really annoying. Anyone have a similar problem or know how to fix it?

Yes i get the same sound out of my solaras Sle. I took it into the dealership and they replaced the sliding track didnt help...ever figure out what it is?

Don't laught. One day coming home from the cleaners, I hung the dry-cleaning on the headrest posts and the clicking stopped. Temporary solution, hang something from the back.

Yes! Mine does it too. And if you put your hand on the seat, you can feel the vibration that is causing that noise. Must be something loose on the mounts?

It seems like if I put the seat all the way forward, it will stop making the noise or at least make it somewhat better. Still, it's pretty annoying. Maybe I'll take it to the dealer.

I just put the seat all the way back...that usually works.

After careful analysis, I've figured out the loose seat problem on the passenger's side. It's the little track that the seat sits in on both sides. The track appears to be too large for the sliding wheels of the seat. When the seat is all the way forward, the rear wheels are only in contact and the problem is solved. But who drives with the passenger seat all the way forward?

I think the problem could be solved by removing the seat and then removing the track and replacing it with a new track that is tighter.

Now where can I get new tracks????

techinically toyota has never had a recall. only "Special Service Campaigns." the only car manufacturer with that track record.

way off base. toyota is probably the pickiest car manufacturer out there. no other manufacturer pays as much attention to squeeks, rattles, wind noise and the like. go drive some other cars for a small period of time, you'll appreciate your toyota more.

It seems like a lot of people have seat trouble and even after taking back to the dealer many people still have the same problem.

Obviously Toyota can't listen to everyone's complaints about small annoyances and immediately post a recall or fix it notice. I'm sure there are guidelines somewhere in the company that categorize recalls.

I would think loose seats would jeopardize people's safety. I'm surprised they overlooked this annoyance. They were aware of this in 1999. But it seems like they repeated the error for the 2000s.

Ok, this is what I did. I stuffed some balled up cloth into the wire support stuff under the seat. It's alot better now. The problem seems to be with the lower cushion from what I can tell.

HEHE...I work as a valet parked in the weekends...After driving all those SUV's, trucks and other cars....I'm happy to go back to my solara..Dav is right...i think the engines and the wind noice is SOO less that all those inside pin drops are amplified....Honda is the only other manufacturer that I've seen that makes great solid cars. Nissan does produce great cars...but their lower segment (altimas' and sentra) make up all the bad rep for making crappy cars.....
