Gas Mileage?

Gas Mileage?

Postby G_Unit » Fri Sep 05, 2003 11:54 am

Hey guys and gals.....I was wondering if someone can tell me what I should expect in gas mileage terms if I decide to "Open" the engine up.
Currently I am getting 368 (last tank of racing around) - 390 good days. Lately NC roads, traffic, construction, etc. has sucked, but we cant complain to bad, I guess its not Cali or the North!!!...Just kidding.
But I have the v6 sle model, was just curious about that. Also is there anyone around here who has any good suggestions about getting a nice paint job??.....

One more thing...I was wondering if any one is going to be at NOPI Atlanta, GA. Just wondering?...I havent decided if I want to go, but its sposored by Toyota.

Later. AmitG

P.S. I have been wanting to get some pics online but I am not the most patient person either. Where is a good storage place for pics and an easy way to link them to me here?? Help me out. :drinking:

I think thats milage is way low for a 1mz engine. I know i get WAY better than that. A/c and pushing can easily make 400 (and i'm not one of those who waits for the light to blink before i fill her up). In the city driving, i'm figuring that would be the milage...(factoring in construction, etc). Also, what do you mean.."open" up the engine??

I get between 360-400 max usually around 380. I have SC with normal boost, injen intake, greddy exhaust and S-AFC.

Damn, thats not good. I should be getting at least 400 then, I just got the tranny drained and flushd about 6,000 miles ago, I now have 58,000 miles on her. I drive about 70-80 mph, and the a/c is on, but still!!.....I wonder what could be going wrong. Any ideas?

*i have 70K on my car.
*had engine decarbonized at 60, got new platinum spark plugs
*used STP engine flush thingy at 60 or so.
*i always maintain proper tire pressure

*ALWAYS FILL IN EITHER Mobil, Texaco or 76!!!
this is very important, i consistently get atleast 4 MPG less if i fillup shell or chevron...

i would first try switching to mobil 91.

Fuel economy: the Solara V6

Postby ezshift5 » Fri Sep 05, 2003 8:21 pm

....is (at least for me) surprisingly efficient:

I average 25-27 around town but on the interstate - more than just a few times - the figure jumps to 31-33. A couple of times, 34/35 was recorded.

18 gallons (1/2 gallon reserve) times 30 (err on the side of caution) is about 540 miles on a tankful. Almost makes up for the weak suspension.

At 45k, the car has grown on me.

Remember that more highway/freeway driving gives you better milage and stop go driving gives you less. The tank milage would depend on how often you drive on the streets/highways. I've gone up to Santa Cruz, Ca from the LA area on less than 1 tank of gas. I hit about 620 miles before the "empty" light started to freak me out. I had 2 people in the car with about 1/2 trunk of luggage crap. Cruise control and A/C on level 1 :D

i was doing good..i got 100 miles off a 1/4 tank..now i'm up to 220 and have 1/4 left. i think that's the most gas mileage i've gotten in at least a year.

as i suggested before, everyone who is getting low mileage try switching to mobile gas (91 octane)

let me know what results you get. if i fill up shell or chevron i get 22-23, with mobil, texaco or 76 its 26-27
