i have to admit that i've been noticing the same thing in new england...i live in the south shore/ cape cod area, and i've noticed a surge in solaras in general with most of them being young drivers.

it's nice to see some recognition for this type of car, but it bums me out a little, because i don't feel as orriginal any more...

In the 626 area, most of us are between 18-30! There are only a handful of older people that are usually in the SLE or the conv.

It's nice to see the demographic changing! =P

I read somewhere the average Toyota buyer's age was like 46 or something... we just moved it down a notch to 45.6 =P

A couple reasons could account for this:

You are more aware of solaras and interested in who drives them. Also the solara is now a few years old and has become much more affordable to a younger kid.

Yep, i have to agree with yanks! Solara have become more affordable as they have been around for a while..thus explaining this...
Question: that 46 yerar average was for NEW Toyota's right??
i ask, cus' wouldn't any manufacturer have a older aged people buying new cars...and kids acquiring them when these older folsk tradce in - or sell them in the secondary markets.... i know cus' a college kid, i bought the celica in my sig (older, high milage car)...when i got my own job and was kinda settlled in...i got my solara new...I don't think i could have bought my solara new as a poor college kid!

when i mean young, i mean 25-27.. lol, guess i am old!!!
15-17 even 19 are kids for me

the cars driven by these young ppl (25-27) seem new... i think youngsters are kinda accepting this car more now, for whatever reason..

on that note, the car paint on my 3.5 year old solara looks good as new..
tho its prone to chipping.. but the shine is there.. well ofcours i clayed it about 4 months back..

:bday:

that is very true about the solara being very affordable, just the other day in my auto trader there were SLEs going for 11-13k.. very nice cars that go for that low are very appealing to a driver's parents who are footing the costs of a newer car to their new driver. They have a very reliable vehicle that is quality built w/ the best brand (IMO) name stamped on the work. My parents co-signed for my solara, although it wasn't really what I wanted at first, but what can you do when your parents have the final say in what you will drive during college.. I too have seen a lot of Solaras on the road lately, but it is mostly because I am trying to look for them..

I'm 26 and I am the youngest person I have seen in a Solara so far, everyone around me seems to be in their 40's and up when I see Solaras.
