The 1st thing ever for my Sol was a Viper alarm. It brings a peace of mind knowing the car is protected somewhat.

I'd go with an alarm NOW, tint later since the fall season is about to start already.

btw, you could do the tint yourself. I did mine with only $60 worth of tinted film. It was the pain in the neck for the rear though.

Let a professional do the tint that way it has a warranty.

It all depends on what kind of alarm you are planning on getting. Also do you have the factory alarm?

The place I told you about uses Solargard (lifetime on some of their films, just ask and they'll let you know)

Quantum - Reflective tint
Titanium - Dark tint
Charcoal - The film isn't as good, but it's dark

I'd only go w/ Quantum and Titanium
1GR-FE ftw!

On the one hand, both are forms of protection. If you tint dark enough, it would be impossible to see any of the audio work, or any interior work for that matter, hence reducing the risk of a break-in. However if you get the alarm, even if it does get broken into...the alarm will go off. I would personally go with tint since it will be less than the alarm, give slight protection, and enhance the look...just seems like a better deal. Just my 2 cents!

Well if you dont have anything flashy inside, those dumb idiots wouldnt be all up on your windows curiously and jack into your car

Not to mention, dark tint could lead to more five-ohz on your azz

Depends on where you live.

In TX, I'd rather get a tint.
North Dallas / Plano is pretty safe. :bday:

ya tint first.. just use a CLUB like I said. If a proffesional car thief wants to steal your car, alarm or no alarm, he will try to steal it.

Who here uses a CLUB along with their alarm? I think thats the ultimate protection, people sometimes feel to confident that they dont take the extra precautionary measures to safeguard their car. People turn on their alarm hear that "beep" "beep" and feel all good. But car thiefs will not be stopped by noise.

I'd say go with the alarm I hate the club I installed a pressure switch instead they could still use the wheel but they have to figure out how to start the car first and I can still remote start it

For all the reasons everone else already said, I would go with the alarm first, it makes sense. Also, since the alarm costs more, it will be that much sooner you will have the money for the tint.

If remote start isn't desired, what is the best alarm option for the 99? I didn't even get the factory alarm. :o -JoeB

Viper, or Sidewinder 6500. some places may even install the Clifford Matrix w/o Remote start and that usually will cost around $400.00 or so, so that's a damn good alarm to get too.
