Stock talk about the Generation 1 and 1.5 Toyota Solara which were produced from 1999 to 2003.

Hi all fellow Solara guys,
After having my Sol for few years stocked, I want to mod it (my unfulfilled dream ever).

A lil background: I've already got the audio system (DVD/Alpine LCD screen, carputer, GPS, subs and etc..), tinted windows, alarm, 17' TSW Revos, clear signal lights and Injen intake.

I hardly drive the car much since I commute to work by subway/metro. I only drive in the weekend or run some errant @ nights. I'm NOT into drag-racing. However, I sometimes do it just for fun occasion e.x traffic light and stuffs.

Ok, enough with all the b.s.

Here is the question, please give me some guidelines or thoughts you might have.
Assume that I have about 2k to spend on the new mod, which way would you go????

1. Buy a used S/C and other related things such as plugs, wires..etc..
2. Buy used TRD bodykit or new Revolution kit (ebay) + suspension package of Tokico/Eibach + Brembo slots rotors for front/rear + smoked tail lights.

Either way, I'll try to install myself with some help from friends. In my dream, I have them both. Saddly, back to the reality, i have to choose only one. So which one would you go?

Thanks.
Sincerely.

Edited:
Added poll & additional information of my situation:
1. I've already had V6 so the power is not that bad. S/C is much better though.
2. I live in apartment, no garage. If I go with option 2, it's kinda ....scary. Maybe I need to buy a car cover.

maybe I should put the money for down payment for a townhouse. :D

You'll love option 1 because of the power, you'll love option 2 becasue of how nuts it will look. Up to you all show no go, or grocery gettin' sleeper.

1st mod always gotta be suspension. (Tokico/Eibach and RSB)
You got both looks and performance gain (handling).

Then I would go for rims then catback instead of S/C or Body kit.

I like your option 3, down for the townhouse! But if you don't have a garage i'd go with option 1 (s/c that baby), at least it will be internal..and won't be something that others can key/rip/steal!

So I guess basically with option 1 you are actually gonna get faster.
With option 2 you will look fast but thats about it.

Hmm, thats a hard decision to make...

From how you described it I think it is an easy decision for option 2. Can you do all that for $2K? If so, I spend WAY too much money... -JoeB

Option 2...unless you're gonna race, why do you REALLY need all that speed? Just look good

Thank you for helping. I'm really appreciated all the help. I'll make up my mind soon. :D

JoeB,

I just did a lil search, and here is what I've found.

Tokico HP shocks Toyota SOLARA 99 03 FREE S&H $364.00 shipped (Ebay)
TEIN STECH Lowering springs 99+ Toyota Solara $160.00 shipped (Ebay)
Brembo Drilled F' Rotors $115.00 + shipping (Ebay)
Brembo Drilled Rear Rotors $161.00 (pair) + shipping (TireRack)
Toyota Solara Revolution Body Kit $429.99 + 150 shipping (Ebay)
Smoked tail lights $100 shipped.

I'll do all the installation myself with some help from friends. Maybe that's where I save money then.

Once again, I appreciate all your inputs and thoughts.

get the supercharger. I had the same mods as you plus a greddy exhaust when I got my supercharger. Six months later I did the suspension. I think the power is more noticable than handaling, but if your into a body kit that is one thing that I am not going to add. I say all go no show baby!

If you have A/T, go with option #2.
If you have M/T, go with option #1 - your engine ain't getting any younger, might as well have fun with it until it's done!
