Small annoying rattling noise inside cabin

Small annoying rattling noise inside cabin

Postby gnegroni » Sun Feb 22, 2009 6:45 pm

Well guys, my car has about 70k miles, but already developed a lot of noise inside the cabin. I have to work the speaker area for some plastic noise as well as the drive seat belt extender squeak. Its the plastic way!

However, what really bothers me is a small noise that only appears when revving the engine hard (4500+ rpm). It seems as if its coming from under the dash, left side. I've felt it for a while now, but I'm beginning to hear it becoming more noticeable than before.

Any ideas? Maybe the fuse panel area has gotten loose? Should I look for anything?

I don't see how, but I'm going to have to take a deeper look in the meantime. I know the big panel under the steering wheel is vibrating at very low rpms (manual car low rpm), so I'm gonna check that too.

Try having someone revving the engine while you look under the hood. That way you can see if anything is moving more than it normally would. I know it's almost impossible to do by yourself because we don't have access to the throttle from under the hood...

vvt-i has no throttle cable. Unless I completely missed something while looking under my hood.

I tried to rev the rpm under the hood instinctively when jump starting my jeep. Felt pretty stupid LOL

I've just added louder rattles and squeaks to mine, with a suction cup-mounted lic plate bracket, radar detector and iPhone holder... I just turn up the tunes louder if the top isn't down - otherwise air and exhaust noise cover up any annoying squeaks and rattles! ;)
