Rubbing Sound by Engine Belts, need to be concerned?

Postby krzyray » Sun Sep 14, 2003 10:03 pm

I have 35k... there seems to be this weird rubbing sound every 2 seconds coming from the engine belts. I have uploaded a video of the sound: http://www.siteffect.biz/solara/rubbing_sound.avi

Anything that I need to do or if this is normal?

Thanks for your help!

I wonder if it might be the same thing that is mentioned in the AfterMarket Upgrades section - Idler Pulley. I'm not sure what part that is but I'm guessing it is the tensioner arm with the pulley on it. Try watching it as you hear the noise and see if it is moving as you hear it. I wonder if we should be lubricating that thing somehow?... -JoeB
