MY DOOR GOT DENTED!

MY DOOR GOT DENTED!

Postby TrevDog » Mon Sep 15, 2003 4:57 pm

So I got out of my car at Safeway and I looked down at my door and there was a big dent and a scratch. It looks like somebody hit it very hard with a door or hit it with a huge rock. The dent is about 3in in diameter.... I am sooooo mad!!!!

Do you have any tips on getting the dent out and touch-up painting it? Or would it be cheaper and easyer just to take it to an auto-body shop and have them get the dent out?

Look for a place that does dent repair. I had a dent from a car door that ws about 1.5 inches. They took this bent tool inserted it in the window and worked the dent out. You can't even tell it was there and it only cost $50. -JoeB

There are paintless dent removals options (the long stickie, the small sucktion cup, and the dryice). bodyshops usually use the combo of all three to get the dent out.....

Paintless dent removal is all well and good for some situations but if you have a big scratch like you say you will be minus the dent, IF there is no crease. But you will still have the scratch. The best bet is to find a good bodyshop that can match the paint.

I took it down to my local body shop and they said it cost $600 to have it fixed because they have to repaint the whole door..... It sucks.
