Need suggestion / Opinions!
My engine bay is getting to look like not a new car anymore. Anyhow, these are my options (i remember ryan always suggesting simplegreen and toothbrush)...but i just wanted to run all these options to see what do you all recommend:
Option 1: Simple green + tooth brush
pros: i think the pro (ryan) spoke..con: TOO much labor intensive, and i really don't have half a day to spend under the hood! This is something i've been wanting to do for a while...btu since i've been too busy lately, i dont' anticipate having free time till January!
Option 2: Steam Clean the engine
Pro: I know a lot of dealerships do this to sell their used cars, I know CarMax does it, so i'll probably take to them. Con: I've heard of bad things of steam cleaning an engine when not done right..hence i choose carmax...cus' i see all their cars CLEAN, so heres' to hoping they know what they are doing.
Option 3: Degreeser (ie. cover all things that can get affected with water, alternator, fuses, airbox, etc)- spray on degreeser and then let it sit..and then hose off at those self-serve car washes...
Pro's: I've done this before to my celica, and its DAMN EASY.
Cons's: I know there are tones of choices for degreeserrs..and some of them dis-color the engine.
There are pro's in every options, and there's con's as well. Life was much simpler when i was a poor college student who could shine my car all day! If you guys have more options/suggestions.....please pass them along...so that i can brainstorm more on this.....the degreeser thing looks like the best bet...but i would need suggestions from someone who's used it on their engine bay w/o discoloring it...
THANKS A BUNCH!
