K&N air filter

K&N air filter

I've seen a few on Ebay for $6 with $9 s/h, and I know a lot of you have them. I was just wondering what your opinions. Do they cause the loss of low end torque like an aftermarket CAI does? Can I get it cheaper somewhere than $15? Thanks!

Its better than your stock paper filter. And no it doesnt cause a loss of power if you have your stock airbox. Buy one!

uh..aftermarket cai..usually don't cause any hp/torque loss unless you get a cheap one...and besides most of the first intakes when they came out for any car...all used k&n air filters..many still do i think..but they just put their brand name on..and it is a lot better than the stock paper filter....

I paid 35 for mine, so 15 is a steal. I personally thought I'd hear/feel more of a difference, but I can't tell any difference. For 15 bucks tho, go for it.

i got my k&n for 35 too at autozone and although there isnt suppose to be any real gains....... the butt dyno did registered a healthy kick in the upper rev ranges, and with the resonator off, its noticeably louder...also theres that nice sqwoosh moise with every blip of the gas pedal from idle.......

there should be a little power gain just because the k&n filter should flow more air...even better take off your stock airbox....i did that for my old camry..v6..took the factory airbox off and put a new filter on....easy performance and..no the exhuast won't do anything more....or less

yeah, the price is pretty sweet. The bid right now is at $4.99 with $9.50 shipping. If you guys wanna check it out, search for camry solara, and it should show up (just don't steal if from me!) Actually, now that I think about it, if you guys do look at it, let me know if its really worth it.

Ok, so I'm a dope and didn't read all the fine print... its K&N style, which makes sense why theres such a price difference. Here's the link. I'd really appreciate it if you guys would check it out and let me know if its still worth it. I have 33k on my car now, so is it time for a new filter anyways?

i dunno bout that auction...some mechanics have told me that the air mass sensor..on our cars are senestive...meaning if they don't fit exactly right on the new intake or something deson't read right...the car won't start....( meaning cheap intakes) may not be a good idea....if it was up 2 me..i'd just buy a K&n filter...go to pep boys or something to get it

car dies with new K&N filter

Postby Solaraman » Sat Nov 29, 2003 3:08 pm

I just came back from Toyota service and the guy installed a K&N air filter and K&N oil filter that I bought. After installing it and servicing the rest of the car, he took it for a little test drive and everything was fine. As soon as I brought it home and put it in park my car stalled. Then I restrarted it and the car died again. What's up with that? Anybody have the same problem?
