What is the status on the 2004 Solara Convertible? Is one out now? Will there be one? Is it being discontinued?

They send the Solara to get the top chopped off... it's not made by Toyota. It should be out next year (summer as a 2005 model)... but rumor says that it'll be out by the begining of 2004 as a 2005 model.

The convertable will be out Spring of '04. The car will be manufactured a convertable, and not sent out or chopped as was the '02 model. The body is welded without a roof, and the top will be installed at the manufacturing plant. It will be available in V6 only with the current SE and SLE interior options.

as nice as a hardtop sounds....is that likely? the cheapest hardtop convertible i can think of is....the...Mbz SLK..and that's an 40K+ car....seems like if they made the solara a hardtop convertible then its gonna cost way more than 30K at current pricing....then its moving into lexus price range....tho that would be nice....

No hardtop, and no plans for one as of now. With the sales of the convertable it's hard to justify just a ragtop much less a hard top too.

still a hyundai is right.
that car must flex and creak like mad. no way the structural integrity wasn't compromised by that roof.

davpak has a point....there a reason why the SLK is built so well....that hyundai if they make it is gonna shake like jello....over rough roads...cuz it costs $$ to make a car....strong....for hardtops..plus all that extra weight....hmmmm
