Just wondering, any of you driving around in an 04 Solara?
I live in Ontario , Canada and the car won't be in dealers until Sept 4.
Also the price hasn't been anounced here yet.
Can't wait to see and drive one.

I went to sit inside one...IT doesn't want me wanting to go and trade in my car....(seems like a refined solara..more than a all new solara). If there is anything that makes me go and trade it in..its the 04 camry SE v6! (i love the new standard bodykit).

Yes I have...even test driven one. Seen it in Black and White so far. SE Sport and SLE versions. Interior is great. Exterior isn't so great. Especially the rear.

I love it. I get thumbs up from all kinds of people. I alread have 700 miles on it. The rear lights will grow on you. I happen to love the rear lights but then again I loved them on the Lexus SC430. The Solara needs 18" rims and a 1"drop to be perfect. The stock stereo is most likely going to be a pain for aftermarket stuff but someone will come up with something nice.
As far as Candian price I think the rate is about 35% right now plus your taxes. I've got some pictures, I just need to get them to a host. Hang on everyone. I paid 24K US for my SE-V6. Options were sunroof and side airbags. 5% Sales tax on top of that. Adjust for currency appropriately I would think. You won't be disappointed.

Solara Owners

Postby kinihawaii » Sun Sep 21, 2003 3:46 am

Just picked up an Artic Mist SE Sport. 1st one on to be sold on the island. Was looking at the Accord v-6 Coupe and the Mazda6 V-6 Sport Package. The Accord Coupe is too small and the auto version (the shifter/console) is UGLY, plus no manual mode. The 6sp manual was too expensive even if it wouldn't have been too small. The Mazda6 is a nice car, with a decent price, but the auto tranny isn't any where near the quality and feel, precision of the Toyota (Lexus) tranny. The fabric interior on the Mazda is kind of cheap, more Ford than I liked. The engine isn't as strong or smooth and similarly equipped they price out to within a couple hundred dollars of the Solara. The Solara is sooooo much higher quality, the door closing thump, the engine sophistication, smoothness, performance, interior materials, fit and finish. It is my first Toyota. Why oh why did I wait so long? Just one final note, the 5sp auto in the Solara has to be the 5sp from the Lexus (GS). It is smooth, responsive and in the manual mode responds quicker than the auto in my friends 350Z. Awesome car, can't wait to take it across the island.
