My Solara Lays Dormant For Now...

Postby Mr_Chunkz » Thu Apr 30, 2009 11:51 pm

Hey guys this thread was recently brought back so I suppose I will post a small update...

With the purchase of a new car, my urgency to have my Solara has subsided. I've told Greg to take his time pulling the trans out again. I think it will be coming out some time this week.

I will arrange, with the help of Gabe, to have the trans shipped back. I may invest in a custom high stall billet torque converter, although another $1100 seems a bit excessive, considering the sheer amount of money that's gone into the project already.

With an upcoming trip to Taiwan next month, my funds have gotten a bit tight, but I will keep this thread updated as we move along.

Thanks for keeping posted!!

The built engine was built by Gabe ( TRD4LIFE )
The assembly and labor was done by Greg (GregTRD )
By far two of the best, most dedicated guys you could have working on anything on your car.

Its too bad IPT isnt nearly as good as these two guys are.

Hey guys, My setup is finally complete. We went to the dyno shop yesterday but ran into a slight issue with the throttle not being able to engage WOT. We finally left and then later on fixed the problem, I will be going back to the dyno today to put down some serious power figures. The tuner laid down a rough base map for WOT that runs a bit rich just in case "i wanted to beat up on it a lil". And I sure did. This thing flies.

[i]Incidentally I took out a new Mustang GT. He was coming up fast on me, I was going about 65 gettin on the freeway and he saw me and floored it ( I heard his flowmasters roar ). He got even with me and I punched it. The car was at 120 in no time and he was about 4-5 lengths behind me... absolutely eating my dust! I cant wait to see a dyno graph of my car.

Without futher adu, here is pictures of my engine.

outf*ckinstanding! I love seeing people taking this platform further and further. For meth injection, take a look at the "devils own" kit, you might be able to come out a few bux cheaper. I've read that an oil cooler isn't needed unless you know your oil temp is getting too high. I'd suggest checking the temp first. Other than that, I'd love to see the numbers this bad boy is gonna throw down on the dyno. Keep us posted! 8)

Good God man!!!!

I am in awe...

I am nowhere close to your buildup.... sans the IPT transmission, 3MZblock, and them coolers look killer!

I am contemplating gathering the parts for the hybrid monster, and sending the parts to Gabe for the master to assemble, and balance, and what not. Obviously with all the drama in my life outside the forum, its on hold.. LOL

But, Im living in Paterson NJ for now, moved from NYC... might have to get a hooptie while the 'lara is down and out for the build.

I wanna see numbers, and hear this thing romp!

Oh yeah, AEM has a nice water/meth kit, with a sensor that connects to your windshield washer fluid, when its low your washer fluid light turns on, kinda cute (yeah I know, not the word you wanna use for a mod, but hey!)
Geeks get it done, while Nerds whimper and call for mommie.

Are those your headers on the floor too? Those wouldn't happen to be jpp?

I can't wait to hear your dyno results.

aboslutely =]
I am predicting a better grab with auto ( greg says this setup on 5 sp will most likely get NO traction off the line )
But videos of Tony the Tiger's camry will attest that the ipt with LSD grabs perfectly, even when brake stalling to 3.5k
And thats enough proof for me to stick with that setup =]

Yeah i definately looked into the AEM kit, I really liked that the low level indicator was included but this kit was much much more than the snow kit. Also, Im one of those few people that wants to keep their windshield fluid resevoir

BTW this is not a 3mz block, rather, a 1mz bored to 3.1. I wanted to do a 3mz block originally but time constraints and money made it difficult to do ( I had fried my engine already and this alternative came up )

Yes those are jpp headers.
The unfortunate thing is that my rear headers have formed cracks for some reason, and so greg pulled my jpp setup out and I will be going to their shop today to get it repaired.

Supporting mods that I've already got are listed on my cardomain =]

My custom test pipe should pay dividends on dynoday.
