it depends on the shop. my tint is what they called 35%. the next step DARKER was 20%.

the percentage is based upon how much sunlight is allowed through the tint

so lower percentage means darker...that's all

You guys are right, I guess I've always had it backwards. I must have misunderstood. I just looked it up and saw it expressed this way % = visible light transmission VLT and an explanation. Thanks for straightening me out. But, along the way I found this great reference. If you wonder what the tint laws are for your state, check this out:

dude, thats retarded, you have it backwardes. the precentage is the ammount of light that is transmitted. 5% is really dark, 50% is light.
