I'm sad folks! Even though I come in here nearly religiously now, I am not a proud owner of Solara...yet! Still workin on my last year in college but I wanted to know how affordable they were. As of this point I am fully convinced that I want a Toyota Solara, thats definitely a good step. But now I'm thinking about which year to get. I want to do aftermarket upgrades so I'm thinking 2004 isnt the way to go. My roomate and I did research and it seems that the 02 Solara can come in V6 form and be manual as well (starting to learn stick this weekend because...it seems everyone has fun with it). So with that in mind, I want a 2002 Solara. Anyone who owns this year, could I get some hints and tips on what should and can be done? To give an idea of what I want to do, I would like it to be black and look pretty much like Aggie's car (I know, Astro's is still cool). Sooo with all that off my chest...i love this place! Ciao

Welcome to the boards, so your essentially looking for a 1mz engine. I know the latter years it was never mated with a M/T, my suggestion is for you to look for something like 99-01. There are a few people selling here and on the sc3 website.....and also for other questions...you can always used the seatch button!

2002 Solara

Postby solara2002az » Fri Sep 26, 2003 11:51 am

I bought my 02 Solara in April, was a one year old used vehicle. I have the SE, with the premium stereo, alloy wheels, and rear spoiler. The SE is perfect for customization. It may be difficult to locate a 5-speed Solara. Although I wanted an automatic, I never saw a 5-speed on dealer lots. Couple salespeople told me that for the most part it's the autos that get traded in. Anyhow, now's the perfect time to get an 02 or even an 03 Solara. I recently looked at the classifieds, and the prices for used Solaras have dropped quite a bit since the 04 model came out.

With my car, I plan on installing HID lights, throw some bigger tires on for better traction, and do some changes to the light illumination colors of my displays.
