Cause of increased tire wear

Cause of increased tire wear

Postby hoob » Fri Oct 03, 2003 2:11 pm

I just noticed that the inner edge of my front tires as become quite worn, and I'm not sure why. Both tires are kept at about 34PSI and I haven't noticed any recent change in handling; it still holds true and doesn't drift to any side.

Various website seem to suggest that it might be due to bad struts; it's weeks away from its 96K km service (60K miles) and still on factory suspension. Any suggestions what else might be wrong? Just go for an alignment?

I really don't want to just open myself up to the dealer and say "let me know what's wrong" of course. Pics of the tires: http://speckle.dnsalias.org/gallery/stuff/

I had something like this around about my 90 kms too i was showed on paper with a quick diagram taht my wheels were angled like this

Thta being the diagram the front wheels being the top the bottom the rear so basically it was referd to as snowplowing and that caused the wear on the tires on the inside oh and the diagram is way over exagerated in the angle depatment but you get the idea

shoe

get that fixed b4 the winter i could hardly back into my driveway on a slippy day withthe inner treads worn out

I had this problem of excessive wear in the inside of my two front tires, it was due to bad driving and not an alignment. I would drive fast and brake excessivley (accelerate towards a red light syndrome). And I never rotated and balanced the tires every 5k...I was lazy. This caused my tires to wear alot faster in the inside.

OK... anyone have a recommendation for a good place in Toronto to get all struts replaced and of course a front end alignment? Also recommendations for what brand/etc. I'm interested in long-lasting replacements, but more or less the same performance as OEM, perhaps just a bit more firm of a ride.

I do most of my service at the dealership pending expiry of my 100K warranty, but I don't see any need to have this done there.
