? about Rim/Tire sizes

I am thinking about getting new rims after I lower my car, and I wanted to know people's opinions about sizes. What size wheel/tire combo are people here running and what would you guys recomend? I want to go with tires as thick as possible, and I was wondering if I could get 245/40s to fit and what size wheel would it have to go on. I'm thinking 18x7.5" wheels, any info/comments people have would be appreciated.

My rubber is 215/50/17, I didn't want to worry about popping tires or bending rims, and I'll have plenty of clearance once I lower it, so i'm very pleased with my decision.

245 is too wide

You need 225/40/18. I am not sure about 235/40/18 either.

you could do 245....but then again..it'll probably stick out and that looks funny..but you could do it...but then agin..you might hit your fenderwell on turns....so...

Depends on the off set of your wheels, their size, what appeals to you as far as wheel-stick-out-ness and how much fender you want to roll. Good Luck. Im lowered with the TIEN/tokico combo with 225/40/18 on +42 and it looks like i could fit 235 pretty easily....

I would like to put 17" wheels on my 99 v6sle. I am looking at some 17X8 Momos what size tire should I use? Is 17X 8 to wide?

having an 8' rim, you would need at least a p225 tire size.

i myself have 18x8.5 running on 225's but i plan to get 235's on the next set.

with the correct offset and within reason rim width, the wheel/tire should not look out of the oridinary.

you will need at least p225, 45, 17. with that offset, you should be fine, however is there anything higher? like 38 or 40?

No more offset, this is a wheel that I can get.
Also, someone told me the rear would rub. Do you guys think the car will look strange?

i have a 99 solara
i'd like to get 18" rims for it
i've been lookin around and i think 18"/8.5" rims should fit fine, right?
and tires... 225/40/18 is that okay?

basically i want to be able to get the wheels and put them on myself w/o any fender modifications or anything else.

also, i know the car will be jacked up.. any suggestions on lowering the car? how much will i need to lower it with 18"s on there ??

As TRDMole says above... you should be fine

lowering your ride... thats a different topic, but you can do any combo, just hit up the Search function at the top and you should find LOTS of info

8.5" will need a different front and rear offset and you will not longer be able to rotate your tire.

Lowering or not, strut clearance is the same.
