hey, how's it going

so, today i "scratched" my tire on a curb and my tire popped

8)

i put the spare on and now i'm home.
here's my question (heads up-- i know next to nothing about tires)

the tires i have that came with my car (2002 se v6) are michelin xgreen radial xse p205/60 r16 91H m+s MXV4 Plus

i'm not sure what parts of that are useful

they have about 8500 miles on each of them (well the spare has like 3miles)-- i usta burn out a lot too

anyway, i figured what i would do is have the tire on the spare removed (my front right tire, the tire is the same exact tire as the stock ones) and wrapped around (is that the correct terminology?) my old rim (so i don't have the ugly black wheel) and try to find the exact same tire on the net/wherever and have it wrapped around my front left tire so both wheels have the same wear.

sounds good? or stupid?
:-?

like i said, i'm clueless about all of this
any advice on what i should do? or any good inexpensive place to get tires?

thanks in advance :)

putting 2 new tires on the front is a perfect plan.
but, you'll have to pay for the mounting and balancing of 3 tires (the new one, the spare to the alloy wheel and the "old" one onto the steel (spare) wheel).

is there a discount tire in your area? they typically have decent prices. be forewarned that tire is not cheap, expect to pay over $100 for it.
tirerack.com has treated me well in the past too. but they can only get you the tire, not do all the mounting and balancing!

You may have bent your rim.

get new ones..but you don't have to get the stock tire againm...they usually cost a lot....you can get yokohama viads for example for less than 80 bucks each...or dunlop sp sports for around that price..the last time i check the bridgestone re92 that came with my car was like 140 bucks which is a rip off..oh yea kumho has an ecsta i think that fits as well on the stock rim...

yeah, but if i get the stock tire, i only have to buy one tire (b/c i already have a virtually new one from my spare)

would it be bad to have two different tires up front than the stock ones i already have in the back?

as long as they're the same size it should be ok....for a while i had my stock re92's on the front and the yokohama avids on the back ( cuz i had to replace the front two because of my camber being off when i got my car lowered.) just make sure they are the exact same size...and

No it's not ok.

Different tires have different grip. Cornering and braking will suffer if you have 2 different setups in the front. It's dangerous

Pro956: Where is the puncture on the tire btw? Not the side wall right? If not, you can always bring it to a tire shop and have it patched (not plugged) and use that as a spare tire.
