Has anyone seen or heard of 1MZ-FE(3.0 V6) fail(blow up) and if so what component broke.
I'm curious to know how tough this engine is.

Turbo Mag or someone did a 1MZ tear-down and said that it can handle a lot of boost but you need upgraded pistons. THe pistons in there are weak.

The only thing I've heard being blown in the engine are the knock sensors when they are supercharged
1GR-FE ftw!

1mz-fe's are renound for lasting 300k miles or more. Boost and hard driving will probably take a little life off the engine but I have no idea how much. I'm guessing the first internal that would need to be replaced would be piston rings, which can be done in chassis.

i've seen several 1mz-fe's in sienna's where the soccer mom neglected her oil changes and the engine either sludged up or seized. that's about it though, and i see a lot of them!

How did ou engine develop sludge?? Was it due to Improper oil changes..?? the main question is what was the cause of the sludge?

my parents skimped on oil changes i beleive, but not too much, they waiting about 4500-5000 miles. but in the manual it says every 3000-5000 miles anyways, so it should have been fine. but all 1mz-fe engines from 97-02 or something are covered for sludge damage. sadly, ours wasnt, even tho it was the same damn engine

I know that using cheap oil (like penzoil) and not changing it often enough leaves deposits and can cause sludge.
