Do you guys know about computer chips that are available for the Solara? My boyfriend said that they add 70-90 hp to the car, and do a lot of other things as well. He said it costs about 500 bucks....you guys know anything about this?

Your bf is bullshitting you.

No chip for Solara.

Not to mention, it's hard to push 70-90 hp with a chip even if your car is turboed.

There are chips out there than can increase HP, but there isn't one for the Solara... The typical increase is by 20-40 depending on what's on your engine...

I love it when guys try to sound all smart and say crap like that... I always confront those jerks for my female friends and they get scared because they know they lied =D

There are a lot of chips out there for the Audi / VW 1.8T. $400 bumps you from 170 hp to 205hp and something like 240 ft*lbs torque. It's a no brainer.

There s VENOM modules, which plug into your computer and have a switch, where you can turn them on or off, they make them for solaras, but they only give you about 20 more horses, at least thats what they say. They run about $250
always looking for more cool stuff

Jet Performance Power Tuning Chip 99-03 Solara

Postby anjihoo » Thu Oct 09, 2003 4:26 pm

Yes there is a chip that will boost you some extra HP.

Here's the info: Proven Performance gains: Jet Performance dyno test each computer upgrade to ensure reliability and true engine performance. Power gains range from about 10 Horsepower to over 50 H.P. on supercharged or turbocharged engines, resulting in a 2 to 7 car length improvements in the quarter mile. Zero to 60 M.P.H. improvements are typically about 1/2 second.

I wouldn't buy a chip from Jet. I know a lot of people that had their engines just shut down after several months. After costly diagnostic time, the mechanic traced it to the computer. When he saw the Jet module plugged between the computer and wiring harness he removed it. Plugged the wiring harness back into the computer and the car started right up. Now Jet did replace it for free all three times it failed.
