Oil Pan leaking

Oil Pan leaking

Postby SC V6 » Sun Oct 12, 2003 11:06 am

I had Toyota rebuild my engine about 4 months ago, and all of a sudden the oil pan is leaking where the pan and the block come together... Im thinking that the blow by from my piston rings got soo bad that it put too much pressure on my oil pan and blew it out... so.. I took my car to Toyota and they are going to try to bullShi# w\ me... im going to make them rebuild my engine for free since they did it wrong the first time.. what a pain

That sux man, why did you decide to rebuild your engine and how much did it cost? How many miles do you have on your car?

I had to have it re-built because the oil pressure sensor spot got stripped.. so I had them put Total Seal piston rings in, supra injectors, jim's heads, and soem other things, but the rings were done wrong, so I have blow by, and it got to be too much for my oil pan to handle, and blew the side out a little, so now it spews oil.. I hate it

Toyota looked at it, and said that its not the pan, but the crank shaft cover, they took that off and it was dry, they can't figure it out.... but its leaking lots... anyone have any ideas? They are going to use some dye to try to figure it out... I hope its nothing big...

i hate to tell you this, but there's no parts/labor warranty on non-Toyota parts. they may make you pay for the repair.

well toyota re-built my engine about 3000 miles ago, so... and its not just a little oil leak, its pretty big... so... its their fault... its not like I did anything to it... its a major leak, and its all them, if not... I have a lawyer waiting... because I have a warranty on what they did in the past... so.. they will get it done

my point is they don't have to warranty the labor since you requested them to use aftermarket parts (which may be the root of the problem, but who knows). and they probably have a better lawyer BTW.

well, Toyota put a tracing substance in my oil, and it was the oil pan, not the crank shaft cover, so its all their fault.. they didn't secure it correctly.. so ill get my car tonight

Hey scott, So how's the car running, other than the oil leak?
Are you very happy with the upgrades , or do you feel that it's still under the hoped result?
I would love to hear what you think, Being you have the top set-up as of right now. With a SLE right?
Thanks.

I love it... Its all running perfect... Toyota didn't seal the Oil Pan up right, which is why I have the difficulty w\ the oil.. but thats fixed.. so.. its all good now... I love the extra power... its awsome for passing people, racing, what ever u want to do.. I killed a Mustang GT and I have a manual... my tranny and torque convertor is going to be rebuild in teh next year... so.. I can't wait.. I love all the upgrades.... Still waiting on a True cold air intake (im running the stock intake) and looking for an MSD ignition w\ multi-spark...

Hey scott, I didn't that their was a torque converter in a manual,
I thought that was only part of a auto trany? Since you have a clutch What does the torque converter do for you?
