Wanted: -MANUAL- TRD EGR tube for 3.0L S/C to make copies!
I have a buddy who is a welder, and I want to talk to him about the possibility of getting some brand new EGR pipes made for those of us who would like to KEEP their EGR system when supercharging the car, but can't find a suitable EGR pipe, or who like me, their pipe was somehow damaged and can't easily be repaired.
What I need is an intact EGR pipe that goes from the bottom of the EGR valve down to the EGR cooler... for a MANUAL transmission car. I only need to borrow it long enough for him to make up a jig so he can make more just like it.
This guy's work is awesome. He designed and makes the performance exhaust systems sold and installed by DMC Houston. Yes, DeLorean Motor Company. I met him when he and I both worked there, so I got to see his quality of work first hand.
Worst case scenario, I can have him use my car as a template to make a new pipe from the broken pieces I have, but it would be a lot quicker and easier to just copy a good one that's off the car. If anyone has a spare they're willing to donate for this cause, I'm sure plenty of us would really appreciate it. You will receive your egr pipe back totally unmodified and I promise it will never be actually used on a car other than to verify fitment once before being copied.
So on that note - if copies were available, would you want one? I have no idea what it will cost just yet. I will try to talk to him this weekend and find out what something like this will cost. hopefully not too much, since i need one myself!
