Dual exhaust or no?

Dual exhaust or no?

Postby j-rock » Thu Oct 16, 2003 6:28 pm

Hey, I've got a 99 solara se and I'm planning on buying new exhaust in couple weeks. Are there any dual exhaust systems out there that'll fit well? I can't find any...

it's usually a custom job done by shops that does exhaust work...

There are no dual exhaust systems for our car, you would have to have it custom done as Geminimouse stated. Some members have dual and it looks really nice, I considered it myself.

would it be reasonable to put a dual exhaust on a 4-banger?

no. dual exhausts for 4 bangers are pointless.

the reason you see dual exhausts for some 6 and above cylinder cars is because of the "V" design. with the 4 banger, it is an inline, so there would be no use to have half the exhaust manifold to come out one side and the other half to come out the other.

take the oh so common mustang V8. since it is a V8 and engine is placed for FR, 4 exhaust ports on 1 side and the other 4 on the other side. thus would be better flowing if each side has its own exhaust.

not sure if i cleared you up, but yeah.

Anyone have a dual exhaust pic? What about a camaro set up with a big muffler and two pipes coming out the sides? I thought I saw a hooker competition exhuast for the solara that was exactly like that but I wasn't sure how it would fit. Anyone seen anything like that?
Nascar would be a sport if half the cars were driving the other direction.

Ive already seen Solara's in my Valley with dual exhuasts. A Green dropped Solara with TRD kit and a Black Solara stock with dual exhausts. I mean it looks decent, but I still like the single piping look.
