Solara Remote Keyless Entry

Solara Remote Keyless Entry

Postby bfl62581 » Mon Oct 20, 2003 9:55 am

All,
I have an 00 SE Solara (V6 5-speed). I have the nice pretty blinking red light on my gauges to tell me I have key security. My question is, many cars nowadays are built with alarms in them regardless, but in order to use the alarm, you have to purchase this option from the dealer, in which they pull out a FOB, program it to your car, and hand it to you.

Are the Solara's the same way? ie, can I get a FOB off of eBay, and have it work to remote lock/unlock? I have a car alarm, but it tends to act up, and if this is the case, then there's a whole lot more I can build directly into the car's factory wiring.

Yea you can!

Check your current one... on the back it'll have a serial code... that is the model that you need for your car. It's the "FCC ID"

Then you have to find instructions on how to program it... each model differs =\ Some are ridiculous sounding (press gas 5x, brake 2x, open close door, etc etc) lol but it works =x

Is there any other place on the car to find the FOB ID?

I have a 2000 SEV6 5-speed. Can someone check to see their FCC ID for me? I have never had the remote, as I did not purchase that "option", as I was going to get an aftermarket alarm, but now my aftermarket alarm is being a whore, but I miss the lock/unlock ability.

Where can you find the information on how to code your remote to get the security to work?

Try www.keylessride.com
I bought two fobs for $122 w/programming instructions.
The intructions are pretty funny....push in key, pul out key, open and close door three times etc.

Ebay would be WAY cheaper. I got mine two for under 20 shipped! (xerox copy of the instructions were included)

Hey, does anyone know if the keyfobs with the trunk-opening option will work for the 2000 se solaras? I want to get one from ebay but don't know if there is a solenoid in the car or whatever is needed for it to work. Thanks much!

it won't work..i already looked into it, the only way would be to have the thing ( not sure what's it called) that pops the trunk open, i wanted to get it added to my Clifford alarm, i think you can add a solenoid tho to do the same thing.

I was wondering the same as mienmariani.

Also -

I've been researching & it appears the Toyota alarm kit for a 2000 Solara without factory keyless entry(RS3000), is pretty much just "plug & play", with no splicing into any wiring.

Is this indeed true ?.

TIA,

Eric

I still like the fact the factory one is "plug & play" without splicing into stuff.

Call me stubborn.

Guess I better put the flame suit on now.

lol
