Playing With Lights on my TSX

Playing With Lights on my TSX

Postby Mr_Chunkz » Thu Feb 25, 2010 4:04 am

Some of you may already know that my Solara was completed last week only to find out the IPT "built" transmission still isnt working.
That put me in a huge funk...

To make myself feel better I decided to replace my map lights in my TSX ( one of which was burned out ) with white LEDS.
Then I noticed the rear didnt match ( halogen ) so I replaced that too...
Then I realized the door light doesnt match... so I replaced that....
And the glove box light, and center cubby light, the vanity lights, the reverse lights, trunk light and license plate lights.
All in all I replaced 14 bulbs... out of boredom ( I was supposed to be having fun with my solara right now :( )

Anyway, heres some pics.... sorry they're bad quality.. my camera sucks and created lots of grain so I had to clean it up in a photo editing software.

Those look great man.....They remind me of the LED retrofit I did on my maxima. A custom board with 55 "5mm" super flux white LEDs in the dome light, and another board with 35 superflux whites in my map light. SO bright, I love it.

Tracy, at a very quick first glance the first thing I noticed about your pics is not the sweet lighting, but the "ALOHA" door sills.

That would have been the greatest minor mod I've ever seen.

Tracy....what LEDs did you use for your courtesy lights in your doors? are they 194 series? i'm trying to do the same thing in my '06 Max but not sure which 194's would be best....

Thanks guys, yes these LEDs are from Autolumination. I've been a long time customer of theirs since I started playing with lighting on my solara, and have since only bought LEDs from them.

Here is a parts list of what I used, just in case you guys want to get the same bulbs:

All bulbs can be purchased from http://www.autolumination.com

Vanity Lights:
Autolumination Vanity Mini 3 Led SMT Festoon in Super White
http://autolumination.com/festoon.htm

Door Lights, Trunk Light and License plate lights:
Autolumination 5 Led SMT Tower 194
http://autolumination.com/194.htm
( The 25 LED Tower below it on that page would be alot brighter, but I was working with a very small space and the extra diameter and length woulda given me troubles. Id recommend the 9 LED tower or 25 LED tower if you've got the room to fit it )

Map lights, Rear Dome Lights
Autolumination 12 LED Two-Face
http://autolumination.com/festoon.htm
( These arent as bright as I hoped for... I may try to retrofit large LED plates into the lights)

Reverse Lights
Autolumination Eagle Eye Tower
http://autolumination.com/7443_7440.htm
( Freaking bright )

Glove Box, Center Cubby
Autolumination Super High Power 1 Watt Super-Charged LED Bulb
http://autolumination.com/74.htm
( This light is a little too "spot"ty for me... something like the Matrix II 5 LED may be better )

Very nice Tracy. 8)
I did the same for my car.
I just need to replace the gauge cluster, A/C unit, and glove box.
I didn't use any LED's for my trunk though.
That's the only difference. lol.

I hear the AC unit is a pain to replace.....
I was gonna attempt it with my SLE climate control but after I read how its done I decided to hell with it.

Wow, those are hella bright. Nice work.

Sorry to hear about the solara. My build is taking longer than expected as well, but you've still got like two years on me LOL!
