2010 Camry SE Rims on 2002 Solara SE V6?

Hello all - I've got a 2002 Solara SE V6 5-speed. All suspension is currently stock. I've got a friend with a new 2010 Camry SE who just put new rims/tires on his car. He's willing to cut me a good deal on his factory rims, but I don't know if they will fit.

The 2010 Camry SE tires are 215/55/17. My current stock tires are 205/60/16.

Any sugestions? My initial thoughts are the tires will be too tall.

try looking up the fitment for gen 2 rims on gen 1/1.5 solara

Oh yeah, I think most of the guys with 17s run 215/50/17 or 205/55/17.

Your probably going to have to run spacers. I'm running Gen 2 rims on my 02 with 10mm spacers on the rear. I'm running 225/50/17 tires.

What do your friend's 2010 Camry wheels look like?
That is the sizes of my wheels. Do you have pics?

The wheels will fit no problem but with the stock tire size, the rears might rub the struts. You'll notice it more on bumps and with passengers in the back. I tried this setup with 5mm spacers in the rear prior to being lowered. It might work with 10 mm spacers but you still might rub the strut on bumps.

I got a set on my "99 Solara lowered. I'm running the stock Scion tC tire size of 215/45-17 with no problems.

Offset 45
Rim size & width 17x7

The TRD 17" wheels that were offered came with 225/45/17 inch tires, if I remember right. That's what I have been running for the last 10 years without any problems. 215/50/17 will also work. I think your 215/55 will probably bump in the rear, as others have said.

With those specs, there should be no problem running these wheels.
As long as you run the proper tire. Looks to me like a 215/50 would work.
You'll be 5mm closer to the struts, that shouldn't be enough to rub.

My gen 2 rims didn't have any rubbing issues on stock struts, but with tokico hp's, they rubbed since they tokico struts are just that bit thicker than the stock struts. I put in 5mm spacers in the rear to compensate for it.

I am having a similar situation. I have a 2004 Solara SE V6. The stock wheels were 215/55/17. Since I've bought it, it had 225/50/17. The 225's are 1/2" shorter overall diameter. My speedo is off a bit. I know the wider tread path and narrower sidewalls helps dry road traction but I wonder what effect the change had on mileage. I also wonder what how much worse my wet/snow traction is with the wider tire. I'm happy with what's on it so I'll probably run the same size when I replace them soon. Any suggestions on a 225/50/17 tire selection? I live in Michigan so i need winter traction but i dont want snow tires. I'm lookin at Continental Extreme Contact DWS (W rated) or Michelin Energy MXV4 S8 (V-rated). Are the Michelins worth the extra $160.00.? I drive hard and fast when it's safe. I should probably err on the side of satety, eh?
