My First Year as a SolaraGuy

My First Year as a SolaraGuy

Postby jimmm » Wed Mar 24, 2010 8:03 pm

It's springtime in Alabama, and, as you can see, I have been
a SolaraGuy member for a whole year now, as of March 18, 2010.
Today, I took a drive in the countryside during my lunch hour, and,
of course, what self-respecting SolaraGuy could resist taking pictures
of his/her Solara (even with just a cell phone) if the setting were just right?
Before the drive, however, I took a couple of pics in the
parking lot at work to show where I put my new solaraguy.com
decals that I ordered from indiglosolara. I decided to leave my side
profiles clean and do a front and back placement, since the back
window is already loaded with decals, although I think they are
tastefully done. You might disagree, but the nice thing about
window decals is that when one gets tired of them, they can be
removed easily. I've already got a thousand miles on my new
Michelin Primacy MV4's that I got 3 weeks ago today, and I keep
them shined with Meiguar's purple (grape smelling) tire shine that you
pour onto a sponge and wipe on the tires. Monday I purchased a
set of Michelin frame-less wipers to match my tires. I could have
gone with Bosch, but I like the consistency of using Michelin. Now
I can't wait until it rains again, probably tomorrow. I drove mostly
the whole hour except when I stopped to take pictures and to smell
the Daffodils, but I cruised between 45 and 50 mph with windows
closed and a/c on. It was a lovely way to spend the lunch hour
away from the madding crowd.

Your car looks great Jim. I think we should gather up a crew, and do a nice photoshoot in your hood. I like that open country setting.

I said it before and I'll say it again. Every time I see a new pic of your lara it looks cleaner than the previous.
And congrats on your first year.

Thanks, guys. I appreciate ALL your comments.
My Solara is indeed a labor of love. Every dime
I put into it and every minute I spend on it comes
back to me in the satisfaction I get while driving it
or even just seeing it parked somewhere. I hope
I never lose my love for it.

Thanks, Stereo. It's good to see you back in action
here also. I meant to ask you if your avatar picture
is showing your Lara when it had the eyelids. It looks
good that way.

Thanks, BlackSand. This is my favorite forum.

Yup, that's when she had the eyelids. Wow, now I'm debating about making another pair and putting them back on for the summer.
I'm slowly but surely recovering. I haven't done a lot of driving though. After five years of ownership this coming May, I only have 19006 miles on her.
Happy Anniversary to you again!!
