Aftermarket radiator hoses

Aftermarket radiator hoses

Postby SleeperSolara » Fri Jul 16, 2010 12:26 am

Has anyone noticed this??
I was browsein' through Ebay and found that OBX had made some radiator hoses for our cars.....
I have emailed them to see if the parts are legit and not knock-offs.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/OBX-SILICONE-RADIATOR-HOSE-96-99-AVALON-1MZ-FE-RED-/220617077861?cmd=ViewItem&pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item335dcd7465

They come in red, blue and black.

Here's a picture of my engine bay for reference.

The upper hose looks like it's a match and so does the lower.

What are your guys thoughts??

thought about that but concerned that it is only two ply and not four like samco uses. However, samco does not make hoses for us.

Seems cool, but radiator hoses are something that you wouldn't want to compromise with inferior replacements. I will admit though, they do look cool.

I agree.
I would be afraid they would crack easily and fail on us or me.

I don't know about the OBX hoses, but I have heard quite a few good things about silicone radiator hoses. I have a set on my motorcycle and they work just fine. Can't really see where these would fail or be inferior. OBX seems to make a good product.

Wow, I've been searching for silicone hoses for our cars for a long time. It's surprising to see OBX making a set for us. Those hoses look like a direct fit too. I'm tempted to try them.

It looks like this company does private labeling I bet OBX is one of their customers.

Most of the crap they make are knockoffs. OBX Racing Sports get a big fat F from the BBB.

Wow, what a bummer. It's a shame to think that they are making inferior silicone hoses. I know that if you have good ones, it's supposed to be a nice improvement over standard hoses. The silicone ones tolerate much higher heat. Like I said, I have a set on my DRZ400SM and haven't had one problem with them at all. Bummed that the OBX ones are having problems, would love to have a nice set of either black or blue ones on my Camry.

Cool find!

That's surprising to me that OBX has such bad BBB reviews. Then again they never did respond to my email and they don't list a phone number which seems shady to me.

Are we certain though that the OBX radiator hose is unreliable and poor quality?

Did OBX respond to your email?

their parts are usually very cheap, i mean we all have heard of their headers cracking and when i bought my SRI from them the piping was all too short and they actually ripped off
