hey guys i havent been on lately but i gotta question, my cousin has an older benz 190E 2.6 and he said there was some kinda chip in his car called a "retard resistor" witch made his car about 15hp weaker, i know thats a german car but i was wondering if our cars may have some kind of chip that hold back the power of our cars, i'd appreciate an answer thanks in advance

The only chip that limits our car is the speed gov.

lol Our cars have the R134a chip, its actually pretty cool. to remove it you have to hit the ecu with a hammer until it opens up.
ok... j/k. i have heard of having aftermarket chips installed on cars to improve hp, tho im a skeptic as to it being worth it unless it was made to work with your exact setup (other upgrades). your car will go like 130mph with the speed gov. do you really need to go any faster? do you know what happens to a car at 130mph when a deer jumps in front of you or a tire blows out? i hope this is for track purposes, tho i doubt it.

This reminds me of the VSS mod thread on the JBO. It you can't hit 130 in the 1/4, you have no reason to go that fast

Well then he bought the car like that wit the chip in it.
No car from the factory comes wit a "performance chip".
The previous owner did the "performance chip" install.
