Hello! New Solara Owner From Arkansas 2007 Convertible

Postby razorbackdave » Fri Aug 06, 2010 7:26 am

Hello All ! I am a new owner of a 2007 Solara Convertible (Pearl White w/ Black Top) and my wife and I cant wait to get it out on some road trips through the Ozark mountains in north Arkansas. I had noticed a very nice Solara around my neighborhood once in a while over the last couple of years and it really caught my eye so when I decided to buy a car for my wife to drive to work I decided to look on the Auto Trader web site to see if I could find one and if I could afford one. I think I was very lucky to find one 40 miles north of where I live and it was within my price range. My wife and I immediately called about it and went and test drove it and purchased it. I am looking forward to learning more about it here in the group discussions. I also own a Mazda Miata which I think is fantastic but I cant take my friends with me when we are out enjoying a drive. If anyone lives in my surrounding area send me a message and maybe we can go for a drive sometime. Thanks!

Welcome. I have a 2006 white convertible that I have enjoyed. I've owned a number of cars over the years, but this is the first car I've ever owned that has not had to have a repair, and it's approaching it's fifth birthday in November. Also, that marks the end of my lease so I will be saying good bye to my old friend. Since the Solara is not being made any more, I'll will be moving on to some other make of car, but I highly recommend the Solara Convertible. May your new car bring as much pleasure to you as mine has brought to me. Good luck. I have friends that live in the Hot Springs area. We drove all around 7 Thanksgiving week-end with the top down. It was a very nice weekend.

Thanks for the greetings. When I purchased my car I opted out on the extended warranty. My car still has about 4000 miles of factory warranty on it so I figured that I have that long to decide whether or not to purchase an extended one from a third pary. The extended warranty to 100,000 miles would have cost me $1700.00 and that would cover between 60,000 and 100,000 miles. Based on Toyota's reputation for dependability I am thinking I will not spend that much on the car between now and 100,000 miles. The car now has 56,000 miles on it and my wife will be driving it daily to work. I have never owned a Toyota before so I would appreciate anyone posting their opinion on the warranty pro's and con's.
Thanks.......
