Drilling firewall (double checking)

I know this has been discussed before, and using the search i could only find pix of people who wired through the passanger side of the firewall.
I have an automatic, and wanted to double check this is the right place to drill.

It seems obvious or maybe too obvious :-?

Thats not it. Look up higher and to the left a little. In that padding on the firewall, there's a peice thats scored out and it's in the shape of a propeller, about 4 inches long and an inch and a half high or so. It kinda looks like a sideways diamond. Pull it out, there's the firewall and bingo, drill there. Then look in the engine compartment and it's in a nice accesible spot to rin the wire.

this guy's got the idea. you need to get UNDER your dash; don't just look at your brake pedal. that rubber "propellor" piece that needs to be pulled out is NORTHWEST OF THE BRAKE PEDAL. (that's up and to the left) and a drill can fit in that spot. i used a 12v Makita, so unless you're using a Dewalt drill you should be able to access it.

I drilled through a blank NE of the vacuum booster so that the wire comes down imbetween the accelerator and brake pedal and hides under the carpet.

I used a search on this forum to find the best recommended spot, I can't remember who or where it is posted at this point. I used a 14.4 volt dewalt and about a 6" drill bit, drilling from the engine compartment side.

^save wire. the place we're referring to is on the Driver's side. Ross ran his wire on the passenger side. if you can access that firewall from the driver's side, you can run wire in 2 minutes and save wire.
