Aftermarket Automatic Shifter Upgrade

Aftermarket Automatic Shifter Upgrade

Postby gom01 » Sat Nov 15, 2003 12:20 am

Hey guys... I've been searching all over this site about this topic, I'm thinking about customising the automatic shifter by making a different switch for the O/D button... I've been reading stuff from that celica and RAV4 site and I figured out how to change the shifter... My only question is will the shifter still be high? If so, how can I make it shorter? Is there any possible way on how to make the shifter shorter and still have it to work with no problems? Thanks... If anyone has pictures with their upgrade please post them up... Thanks

So you want to change the overdrive button on the shifter? Don't waste the time =x Go get a crazy multimedia system and alarm to protect it. Now that's a waste of money, but ends up being fun =]

are you talking about just upgrading the O/D button, or the whole entire shift knob altogether? need to be a little more clearer.

i'm gettin' a levoc aftermarket carbon fiber A/T shift knob soon, and i plan to actually hacksaw away at the shift rod...but iono if that will work...

I have that shifter and the hacksaw should work BUT you are stuck with it if you don't want it in the future.

Hey guys, I changed the shift nob to an aftermarket one without the O/D button, I just relocated the button somewhere else and made the shifter lower... It turned out great, I will have pictures up later today cuz my girlfriend has a DC...

you can barely see it, it's on the second picture... On the very bottom... I replaced the cigarette plug and used the original O/D button... I will have better picture of it today...
