Replacing fuel injector on 2000 Solara

Replacing fuel injector on 2000 Solara

Postby ImaSubaruGuybutIlikeToyos » Wed Nov 19, 2003 3:12 pm

Is it a pretty easy task? My coworker needs it done and is wondering if it's worth going to a mechanic for it.

I'm a complete newb to Toyotas but I like tinkering so I might help her if it's easy enough.

Thanks in advance!

My bad. I thought you could ASK for tutorials as well. I guess experience from other boards clouded my vision. So, can you move this then, or should I repost?

DavPak: I don't have a lot of details. It's my coworker's car. I'll talk to her later and find out more. It does sound odd.

that link above is broken and I cant find the damn tutorial. Can anyone help ?

I went to the dealers to have my 90k done, they said I should have my throttle body cleaned and my fuel injectors replaced/changed.

I want to do this myself - but have no experience with cars whatsoever. Im a little handy though!

throttle body cleaning tutorial I have found.

I cant find anything about the fuel injectors.

Here is the link. all you have to do is change the begining of:

http://www.zer0.info/solaraguy/viewtopic.php?t=5710

to

http://www.solaraguy.org/viewtopic.php?t=5710

that is, replace
"http://www.zer0.info/solaraguy" with
"http://www.solaraguy.org"

but leave the "viewtopic.php?t=5710" part alone

hope that helps.

By the way injectors are only held in place by the fuel log. Undo the bolts on the log, and the injectors pull right out. Make sure you open the fuel cap first, or else the pressure in the system will spray you with gas (not a big deal, it is only a mild irritant, but it burns your eyes like crazy! just wash em' out with water, you'll be fine). You may need to undo the fuel lines going into the fuel log first so you can pull the log far enough away from the head to pull the injectors. Make certain you replace the O-Rings, even if the old ones look good! Better to be safe than sorry.

Hope that helps,
David
