no, obviusly you dont. i feel like we are going in circles. i am just saying that THEORETICALLY you could take a valet key, get the transponder codes from it, and program those into a new key which could be cut so that it also has the ability to open the trunk. hence, you have a 'master' key. im not saying there are machines out there to do this, i am just saying that it could happen if someone designed the proper machine...

sure, right, just like how even though a shoe is made for the right foot and you wear it on your left! :o
for the last time: when a transponder key is programmed to the car, it is either programmed as a master or a sub (valet). after that, there is no going back.
and no, you cannot get the transponder code from a valet key, even in 'theory.' ITS NOT POSSIBLE, THAT'S THE POINT!

now, back on topic, hows your key situation going Ragnarok?

New master possible

Postby Guest » Thu Nov 20, 2003 4:25 am

Toyota TSB # 00301

The summary says something about an immobilizer reset feature that allows the registration of a new master key if the originals are lost.

read carefully, TSB SS003-01 applies to 2002 4-cyl solara's.
Ragnarok has a V6 5-spd.

also, you need a scantool and special passcode number provided by Toyota Technical Information System (TIS). without that, the ECU will not accept a new master key.

This also happened to me, when i got my alarm installed. I have an autostarted so they had to cut one of my keys so the engine would reconize the chip or smthing, and they acidentally cut the master key so i got stuck with the valet key. Besides not being able to lock the glove and open the trunk i think they valet is pretty much exactly the same, and im sure that you can get a duplicate of it for less than 20 bucks. Hope you dont have to reprogram everything just for a new master key. (2500 WOW... :o )
