Hey, how is everyone doing? I am doing research for my brother, which is looking to buy a new car really soon. The cars he is considering are the 02/03 Nissan Sentra se-r auto, 00-01 Toyota Solara sle v6 auto, 02/03 Mazda Protege ES auto, 00 Pontiac Grand Prix GTP auto.

I just have a few Questions if you guys can help please. Which car is the fastest excluding the Grand Prix? How does the Solara stack up in stock form to these other cars in handleing? Is the Solara a fun car to drive in stock form? Also what is the difference between V6 SLE AND V6 SE Is everything the same except SLE comes with more standard equipment meaning the suspention is the same in the two trim models? Also is their anything I should know about or should look for when looking for an 00/01 v6 SLE model auto any major problems you guys been having with your v6 auto's? Last question are their any other good websites like this one that you guys check out for toyota solara's?

Thanks everyone for your help and sorry for all the questions,

Nick

as for all being auto., my hat is off to the solara.

no car listed in your list will be fun to drive stock. too much body roll.

you answered your own Q about the se/sle. sle is just the more luxorious version of se (auto climate control, console control garage door opener, whack coin tray, leather all around and dual front power seats.)

i have not ran into any major probs yet. going on 75K miles.

to get the best seat in the house, go to a toyota dealership that has the year/trim/color your brother wants.

I don't think the SE-R comes in an auto, I may be wrong. It's a 5 speed or if you get the SpecV, then it comes with a 6 speed short shifter, you also get Brembo brakes, 170hp and better seats than in the Solara. I drove my friends SE-R SpecV. Lots of fun stock, I didn't want to get out.

SE-R comes in auto or manual

SE-R Spev V is only a manual 6 (unless they've changed it... I was considering this before a Solara)
1GR-FE ftw!

the Sle only comes in auto so if you're conisdering a stick get the SE, and i think the SLE only has the driver seat power the passneger front seat is manual. i would get the solara just based toyotas build quality. and besides all the cars you listed are all different types, some like the mazda and nissan are considerably smaller. the pontiac is an american car and i won't even get into that one. go drive them all thats the best way to do it....

Does the passenger power seat have a manual flip up for getting passengers in and out? What a pain if not.

Plus the SE has a power driver's seat too, not only the SLE. At least the gen 1.5 does.
Please stop humping my car, owner privilege!

Well youve come to the right place :) ive owned an SE-R, it was a spec v but still an SE-R...se-r's come in auto and 5 speed manual, while the spec v only comes in 6...if your brother was going to get the se-r it should be the spec v but since it looks like he only wants auto then i wouldnt go with it...oh and i never had a problem with mine and put 8k on it before i traded it in...but i would go with the solara over the auto se-r, but id take a spec v over an auto solara :) they sound awesome with a CAI too :) doesnt the GTP put down like 260hp??
Goodbye solara, loved you while i had you :( now into my bros hands, and hello Spec V...BYE BYE SpecV HELLO 04 Maxima ;)
