HELP!!! (Reverse Glow Gauges)

Postby xsolara33x » Tue Dec 02, 2003 1:56 pm

I'm having problems with my installation and I've been following everyone's suggestions on how to install them. I tapped the green wire with the silver dashes with a tap connector to the power cable from the power supply that came with the gauges and I put the ground wire onto an existing place where the other ground wires are located and they still won't work. PLEASE HELP!!! any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

I've read all the posts that has to do with installing the gauges and followed Krooked solara's but it still won't work. Could the gauges be defective? Or would me installing it during day time be the issue since they turn black at night? My gauges that I received had four 2 pin connectors from the power supply but the I only use 3 to connect it so what is the other one for? Would that be the problem. HELP!!!

can you post any pics by any chance? what are the colors of the 4 wires? you might have the wrong green wire. it should be on the farthest right plug of the instrument cluster.

I was reading online and people said that the farthest wire to the right is a solid green wire but the one I have is a green wire but with silver dashes

yep that's the one. one sure way to tell would be to unplug that connector and try to turn on the parking lights. if the lights DO NOT turn on, you indeed have the corrrect plug. if they still turn on, you have the wrong plug.

i'm assuming you don't have a multi-meter by chance huh?

I had a set I bought off ebay. I couldnt get it to work for some odd reason, but then I looked at it and saw the "5" and "6" on the tach were reversed. Since it was about a month after the auction ended (and i dont think I would have wanted to use them anyways with the 5 and 6 transposed), i just went on procarparts.com and ordered another set. That set worked perfectly. I even used the tapped fuse from the ebay set, so I didnt do any rewiring from when i attempted to install the ebay set. I guess thye guages from ebay were just defective, but you may want to make sure you dont have a set where the 5 and 6 are transposed on the tach. Im not sure if all the ones with the transposed numbers are defective, but I wouldnt be surprised.

Are all of them going to be like that from EBAY? thanks for all your help guys... I was so excited to put them on that I didn't even notice the 5 and 6 were transported...
