Driver Side Mirror

Sorry for posting this in wrong forum I have (96 Camry), but it seems that nobody responds in other forum.
My driver side mirror, actually the glass only was cracked in few places.
Looks like I'm going to have to replace it, inspection comming up next month.

Quick question, is it possible to replace just the glass without having to replace the entire mirror. I haven't had a chance to look on how it is assembled, but it looks like the outside cover is not comming off.

Got two answers from the dealer, two dealerships told me to replace the entire mirror about $180 for the mirror painted becuase it is easy to break the glass changing it. Other dealer said that they sell the glass for $39.

yes its possible to replace just the glass, however its very easy to break the glass when installing it. happens all the time. most dealers will not replace just the glass for that very reason.
give it a shot yourself. glass only is way cheaper.

DavPak thanks for replying.

Do you know of any ways of how to go about with this, any tips?

Should I try to pry it out from all four corners of the mirror?
Does the glass itself just pop into something, in the mirror mechanism.

Any answers/tips would be greatly appeciated.

I had someone break my glass on my driver mirror. I just went to a glass shop and $18 they cut me new glass and it works great.

If it's not a heated mirror, you can always replace the glass.
