ABS + Black ice

ABS + Black ice

First of all, I HATE STOCK TIRES!!
Secondly, I tried the search thing but didn't come up with anything. Anyways, we just had our first snow this year yesterday. I drove my car today and some roads had ice on 'em. So my front tires started spinning, but i got it all under control. The thing is that the ABS light came on and i tried turning off the car and then back on. I drove the car around and hit the brake couple of times and it seemed ok, except the light is still on.
Whats supposed to be wrong?
The weather chanel is saying that we're havin snow tomorrow too :( .. I miss Austin soo much!!

All weather tires = suck on dry, suck on wet, suck on snow and suck on ice

The light should turn off by itself.

Get a Solara with human ABS :), I hate ABS so much. If I get a new Gen 2 Solara someday I am going to make the dealer disable it LOL. Anyway the ABS light can mean several things, but I can't find the book that tells me these things. I am going to go brave the very cold weather to check if it's in my garage, if not I won't be any help :(.

EDIT: (UPDATE) It's f'n cold shiver shiver.... Ok there is a long list of problems that it could be. You can determine this by checking the error code. The Haynes manual has a list of problems that it might be and code reading instructions. There are alot of sensors that could be acting up.

Hopefully it will just go away, I have seen several people post on here about ABS lights that come and go, but if it stays on for a few days I would certainly take a good hard look at it, I mean the brakes only stop your 3200lbs potential coffin right :)? They're the most important part of the car IMO.
Let's just pretend I didn't grow up, or you're going to be terribly disappointed.

I know when I take my car in for inspection and they put it on the dyno, since the front wheels are spinning but the back aren't, the ABS light turns on. Kinda like your front wheels spinning on ice while the back wheels aren't. I dunno how accurate of a statement that is, but from what my mechanic told me, since the back wheels weren't spinning, it some how tricked the computer or whatever. As soon as the car goes over 25mph or so, the light should turn off, but I dunno.

Don't worry about the ABS light, it will go off my itself.
It has come on twice in my car, the first time, after I washed the engine with a pressure water and the second time after a long rainy day.
Just allow it 2~3 days to dry off.

Last winter I had the light come on a couple of times....my mechanic told me it was an electronics issue, seems some slushie snow got into the engine and froze around a sensor or chip. The light eventually went off every time and was not a problem during the summer.....we'll see if it comes back this winter.
