? about Rim/Tire sizes

i have 225 on my 17 TRD which is really good... but i wondering is ok to put 40 instead of 45???

i have 235/35/19 with a 43 offset and my car is lowered with the eibach pro kit. my tires dont rub at all.

The only thing you need to worry about is whether that size is too much smaller than stock. According to the Miata tire guide, that size is over 6% smaller than stock, which will affect your speedo somewhat. If the size difference is too far from stock, it could affect other things, like ABS. I don't think yours will be a problem though. If you haven't lowered your car, you'll have an even larger fender gap. Not big deals, just something to think about.

does anyone know what the numbers for the tires mean?
like 215/35/17...i'm assumed that the 17 is the rim size, 35 is the offset, and the 215 is the space from the rim to the outside of the tire. i just want to be sure.

You've got some of it right. 17 is the diameter of the rim, measured in inches. 215 is the width of the tire, measured at the surface that contacts the road. 35 is the aspect ratio, which is a measure of the sidewall height. It is expressed as a % of the width of the tire. Therefore, the sidewall height of this tire would be 35% of 215 mm.

i got 225/40/18 and i was lookin' at some pictures of a carshow and saw this car that looked pretty sweet. the tire size he had on there was 215/35/18, would i be able to pull this off on my next tire set?

u guys confuse me... i need help on offset... plan on gettin either 17X7.5 or 18X8 ... which offset do u guys recommend 4 the 2 rim sizes...thanx a lot.... laters
