A little late on the reply, but yes, you ought to be compensated for it. That's what insurance is for.

However, and slightly off-topic, I hope that some of us are not dead serious about how screwed up the other party is, and this and that. Kind of scary to think that an accident can lead to practically a vendetta.

I don't know how other states do it, but in WI, if your car gets hit (even when it's parked and you are not in the car), but you claim insurance on it to get it fixed, points are taken away from you and after so many claims your insurance goes up as well...I think that you are 10% responsible for all accidents even if none of it is your fault (In WI at least)

I agree. The person who hits another car has simply made a mistake. I'm sure we've all done something dumb while driving.

EXACTLY. Compensated, yes. That means (in this case) getting your car fixed at his expense because it is his fault. It doesn't mean trying to rape the other insurance company, which might be yours as well. They're all pretty connected in the insurance world. Now, if you were seriously hurt, he was drunk, and on a suspended license... then it's a difeerent ballgame. This was a very minor accident. Be lucky and fortunate and get the car fixed. End of story.

Man don't worry about it, you did the right thing. About a year ago some old guy hitted my car form the back in drive thru, and he didn't even ask if he should do anything....since he is an old guy and it wasn't like that serious, so I let him go without any information form him. The thing is after i got home and see a tiny lil scratch on my rear bumper, I was totally disappointed and wanna kill myself for not ask any info from that old guy. so....yeah I guess you did the right thing because you'd be so upset. Trust me you did the right thing.
