Hey, the search function does work. And so did the programing instructions. Rock on! Did it in the parking lot while the dealer :bad-words: cried inside about their lost $55 in revenue.

programmed a key.

They wanted $45 for the key and $55 for the programming. I talked to the manager and got the key for $34 since I bought the car there.

Too lazy to search? Ok...

Postby mycrobyte » Wed Dec 31, 2003 9:44 pm

Ok, just don't give me a hard time if I post some noob question in the future.

This worked for my 2000 Solara:

Simultaneously depress and release brake ans accelerator pedals 1 time. Insert original master key into ignition lock.
Depress and release accelerator pedal 5 times.
Depress and release brake pedal 6 times.
Remove original master key from ignition. Insert new duplicate key into ignition lock.
Depress and release accelerator pedal 1 time.
After 60 seconds, security indicator light will turn off indicating new key is programmed.
Remove new key, press brake pedal once to complete registration mode.

It took me a couple tries to get it to work, but it did.

Anyone done a remote starter system in one of these cars? I'm assuming that it'll need a copy of the key and an interface module to work properly?

Yes you'll need the bypass module.

Good lookin' out!! Anyone got the sequence for the remotes??? Here's a little more specific sequence for the key itself...

To Program An Additional Key:
1) Place an already programmed Master key (one that works all locks) in the ignition, but DO NOT turn on.
2) Press the GAS pedal five (5) times.
3) Press the BRAKE pedal six (6) times.
4) Remove the key from the ignition.
5) Insert the new key, but DO NOT turn it on.
6) Press the GAS pedal one (1) time only and wait about a minute for the security light to quit flashing.
7) Remove the key and Press the BRAKE pedal one (1) time only.
8) Wait at least ten (10) seconds, then re-insert the new key and start the car.

You can have a maximum of ten (10) transponder keys programmed into your car.

Sure.

Step 1) Take Remote
Step 2) Put them in your BBQ grill
Step 3) Make burgers! (mmm, burgers)
Step 4) Go to Best Buy and get a real alarm installed.

:D

Sorry, but I find factory alarms and keyless systems to be useless.

Agreed, but if you take your car to Best Buy for an alarm you might be rolling the dice. They employ high school kids (to save money) who don't care if they mess something up.
