timing belt

Has anyone here changed their own timing belt on a 1mzfe? My 99 is at 79k miles and I'll be changing it soon. What I can't figure out is why does the book want you to remove the camshaft timing gears after you remove the belt? Am I missing something here?

I need to change mine I have about 74K. I know that if I take it somewhere they are going to try and charge me a shitload because of my SC. Figure out how to change it and let us know how it goes.

There's no reason to touch the cam gears when doing a timing belt. I'd assume it to be a fairly straightforward ordeal. Replace all the belts and tensioners (I'd do whatever seals I could get at when I was in there if I were you), line up the timing marks, and you're ready to rumble. I'd get a factory service manual (yah, bitch bitch bitch I know they're expensive, no excuse not to have one if you're working on your own car though) and use that for reference. I don't find anything online, but I haven't looked much. Maybe one of the Camry forums or websites will have some kind of instructions for this?

I have the service manuals and thats where the procedure calls for removing the cam gears, but I can see no reason why. I've ordered a "timing belt kit" from Toyota that includes the belt, idlers, and tensioner. I'll post back here after I do it, but it will probably be a couple of weeks before I can do the job.
