Kondo, I hate to call you out on this, but you are wrong.
Synthetic oils are not made with additives, they are synthetic, they are man made oil. The synthetic oils, being not "real" oil, does not break down like regular oil does. Regular oil will burn easily, and cause all forms of gunk on the inside walls of your block.
Synthetic oil will not do this anywhere near as much as regular oil. It is possible, but you'll blow out your engine first. Anyhow, you should NEVER switch oils. If you are going to use Synthetic, I recommend the day you get your car, switch the oil.
The seals will form with regular oil, and then when you switch to synthetic, you will have numerous oil leaks. if you are going to use synthetic, use it from the beginning.
As for oil filter, don't go cheap like OEM. If you are going to take care of your car, and you want the performance to last as long as the car does, get fram ultraguard, or a similar filter. Think about it, you are hoping this filter will remove small particles of everything from your engine.....get that crap out of there!
come on now. you spent ~24k for the car, $8.95 isn't that expensive for a filter.
