how accurate is the outside temp on the climate control?

how accurate is the outside temp on the climate control?

Am I the only one who's climate control doesn't seem right? It always seems to register the outside air temp at least 5degrees higher than it is. It's suppose to be - 4 degrees and the temp is registering at 1 degree. And to think of it..it's been colder, and I don't think I've ever seen it w/ a negative number..can it even do negative numbers?? lol.

I think I need to go do some drive-bys (sp?) at some banks....to look at the temp signs in the pklt of course

I saw da same thing with my parents Avalon. On that day it was like -5 deg out, it read like 8 deg on it. But yesterday i was driving and actually noticed it was -1 but it still might have been colder yesterday.

u sure it's not just the wind chill that ur feeling?
The air temperature can be -1 but factor in a wind chill of about 3mph then it'll feel like -8

you are lucky that for you its just 4 degrees off...i've exp's something close to 20 degrees off at times...sometimes its dead right! I guess its just the placing of the sensor and where your driving?

I'm not saying the Solara's thermometer is accurate, but I wouldn't rely too heavily on bank temperatures, either. On my way to work there are two credit unions and a bank that all have outdoor temperature displays. I have never seen any of them at the same temperature. Usually there's a five or six degree difference between the highest temp. and the lowest temp. With bank outdoor temp. displays, I think placement in relationship to shadows and direct sunlight has a lot to do with their accuracy.

Interestingly, when I take the average of those three displays I mentioned above, that is the temp. that my Solara displays.
