CEL P0441 Diagnosed

Postby BamBam » Sat Jan 17, 2004 11:21 pm

1999 Solara SLE V6 61,000miles.

Intermitent problem with the car. Sometimes (once every 2-3 months) the car will seem like its choking while driving. I give gas and power comes on and off jerking the car violently. CEL will trip and the car then runs fine for another few months.

Got it diagnosed as:

Cause: P0441 DTC EVAP PURGE FLOW INCORRECT.
Correction: Erased DTC. Requires Tank VSV.
VSV part number 12271.

Total cost $200.

My emission test has to be done in 3 or so weeks.

Where is the Tank VSV located?
Can I do this myself? (I am mechanically inclined)

if you've done other work on cars, it shouldn't be a problem.

Thanks. Didn't want to assume the obvious.

Would I be able to find a diagram in a Haynes manual?
