Where are those other 2 speakers hiding?

Where are those other 2 speakers hiding?

I just bought a 2001 SLE that has the 200 watt 8 speaker stereo system. I only see the 2 speakers in each door and 2 behind the back seat. Where are the other 2 speakers hiding? :n00b:

That's misleading. Listing a 2 way speaker as 2 speakers for marketing purposes. It's even worse that they list it as 6 different locations. I guess it's left rear, right rear, top of left door. bottom of left door, top of right door and bottom of right door. :onfire:

Well, I dunno. If you count that little door chime thing, and the siren for the alarm as 2, then you'd have 8.

I agree that it's a little misleading. I have a showroom brochure for the 1999 model and it says "8-speakers in 6 locations" every time it mentions the stereo system. Sounds like they're really desparate for features to advertise. Coaxial speakers ARE better than the stupid "whizzer cones" that are on most speakers though.

according to that I have 14 speakers in my car. 3 way 6.5"s + tweets front, & 3 way x9's in the back. In the real world though, its still just 4 speakers.
Nascar would be a sport if half the cars were driving the other direction.

if they wanted to be misleading, it would merely say "8-speaker stereo system."
instead, they gave you full disclosure and told you up-front that they were in only 6 locations.

little picky there, eh?

ahem... each 6.5 has 3 drivers. each 6x9 has 3 drivers. Thats the whole thing we were talking about being misleading. Of course it is actually just 4 speakers + 2 add on tweeters, but if we were to count it the way Toyota did, we would get 14.

Do you really care, to be honest? Who here HASN'T swapped out their speakers for something better yet? I'd bet less than 40%.

On that note, I just installed my CDTs and my 6x9's. The amp and sub goes in as soon as the alarm gets here.
