The water may be too HOT to jump in here but I'm going to test it
. I think I'm number 99.5 out of the 99% and I'll explain. I, like most others here am VERY skeptical about this magical chip. The application has merit but lets look at it for a minute. These chips simple apply resistance in series with the ECU from the sensors to manipulate the signal in the same manner that an S-AFC would. It depends on the quality of the "chip" you get. Imagine if it was an EEPROM and could be re-flashed when the car's components changed. The next worse would be a PROM that is written once to a specific car application, if you make any significant changes, it would be worthless. Last, it has NO intelligence regarding RPM level and is SIMPLY a single value resistor across the range. That wouldn't help much because our sc'd engine tends to run lean on the low end and rich on the high end.
The reason I would be skeptical is, comparitively there are VERY few people who have tuned their Solaras. It is simply not worth it to manufacturers to put that much development time into an application that they will not sell that many of. They would have to make profit on margin rather than quantity. I'm not calling BS on this because I think it is possible and if WhiteFlash is correct and this shop services celebrities, they could easily have funded the project. The problem is, like I said before, what was done to the car they developed it for, stock? I will wait and see what WhitFlash's experience is. Hopefully it is a good one and can help many of the people that come here and want a FAST Solara for $50. (that hhhuuuuuppp sound is me holding my breath
). The reason why many people are SO skeptical here is we've seen many of these that are worthless. -JoeB[/b]
