Tranny cooler

Tranny cooler

Postby kondo » Tue Feb 03, 2004 5:31 pm

I went to jify lube this weekend to get my oil changed and I decided to change my tranny fluid since my car seemed to be haveing a hard time shifting. The guy who changed my fluid said that it looker really burned and that since it had only been 12k since my last trany fluid change that I should get a tranny cooler. He recomended that I also get a new after market raidiator and the tranny cooler. He said it he knew a place A1 transmissoins that could do just the cooler for around $200or $400-$500 for the raidotr. Does any one have a tranny cooler? And also does any one know what company makes aftermarket radiators for our car?

Thanks

I have a B&M, and love it! I have had it on my car for about 75k. I got my mine from Summit. It was around 50-60, so that seems to be going rate. 200 is crazy. I cannot think of any reason not to get one, on any car, as they are cheap and should improve transmission life no matter how you drive. I have talked at length about it before, so you should do a search :D. I know this one is out there :D.
Let's just pretend I didn't grow up, or you're going to be terribly disappointed.

I just bought a B&M Supercooler for $70 at a local auto parts store. So where should I install it? I thopught I could put it on the back of the radiator but there are two huge fans on the back of it. Who has one installed and did you DIY or pay someone else. PIcs would help and I can take pics as I install and put it in the DIY Section.

Thanks
Nick

brings the tranny fluid out of the tranny to a mesh grill looking thing that cools the tranny fluid... it brings it out and is air cooled rather than having the tranny bake like an oven just getting hotter and hotter... Keeps the temp down.. its real nice

^ we're talking about a tranny cooler, not water/coolant radiators.

unless this is something new, i've never heard about a thermostat for the tranny.

Hey, slow it down buddy! :)
He mentioned he had to get his radiator replaced so I suggested an item to lower his temps. (Radiator) not (Tranny) Geezzz  I guess I should be more specific next time. I thought if I said thermostat peeps would already know that it’s for the radiator and not the tranny as I never heard of a thermostat for the tranny.
