It's been in developement for the xA/B for a while now... also the S/C for that engine... they've been lagging it although other names (HKS and Greddy, I think) have released kits already

Turbo for IST and bB (xA and xB) which sport the same engine... 1.5L Echo 1NZ-FE I think

I don't get it...they turbo the POS scions in order to run like a real car now? What a waste of R&D. They should spend more time dealing with real cars.

Scion = cheap base

For the cost of a Turbo'd Scion, it'd be barely over the cost of an entry level Solara.

The demand of the Scion is huge in Japan and appearantly here too! They are using Scion to pick up the "kiddy" market. Since more "kids" will buy Scions, they invest money to make it more favorable and pick up a few bucks by having those relatively high prices for dealer installed options

Yeah, I guess you're right. But I really think Toyota or Scion should re-evaluate their marketing research because word on the "tuner crowd kids" is that Honda is the king and Toyota sucks it's dick every night. You guys should check out the different forums out there, everybody bashes Toyota. They think Toyota is digging a hole to failure. At least that's what the "Scion target market" thinks. It's horrible, they don't even want to know good things about Toyota. :(

Oh and check out the scionlife forums. It's funny how most kids there don't even know anything about their Scions and vent out uninformed opinions. For them, it's all about what the car looks like. Oh sure. :roll:

Toyota should consider that these "kids" may be stupid enough to buy sh!tboxes, but they're also stupid enough to follow the mainstream wave (Civic Nation). :-?

ok...i'm done. i'm just upset how Toyota's losing in this game. I've always rooted for Toyota.

^^^what he said. I'd much rather have a box shaped car with quality, than a Honda that can't pass a crash test.
Anyways, after seeing the turbo on here, I searched on the web, and there's a 1MZ 94 Camry that's also turbo'd. If I can find the site again, I'll post it.

I play alot with turbocharged cars, and I was contemplating what it would take to make the manifolds to twin turbo the Solara. The room's there, the hardest part would be the fabrication of the manifolds themselves. Anyone know if there's anything already made (maybe for the Camrys)?

Everything else, BOV, IC and piping, all that could be done with relative ease. And you could pick up a couple of T25's for next to nothing, run them at @9-10psi on the stock head, and probably be pretty happy. I think the fuel issue has already been addressed with the S/C. An AFC would probably do the trick for fuel control.

If I knew my wife wouldn't end me if I ever brought it up, I would try it. Who knows, maybe in a year or two.

That's why I'm trying to work w/ the 2AZ... there is plenty of room for the manifold. THe 1MZ/3MZ is too cramped up

The 2AZ can handle more (9.6 compression while the 1MZ is like 10 or 10.5) but we have to run a little extra to catch up to the 1mz's base
